Jumat, 23 Januari 2009 comments

Jay-Z has explained the meaning of the new track he performed at a presidential pre inaugration ball on Monday (19 January).
New York rapper Jay unveiled 'History' at Washington DC's Warner Theater, before attending Barack Obama's presidential inauguration on Tuesday (20 January).

He told MTV: "The 'History' record is really about - once again - making history. I use different words as if they were women: 'Success. I met success and success was a sister of defeat.'"

He added: "If you listen to the record it's pretty much talking about trying to find victory, victory being a woman. So me and victory can make a kid - the kid being history and then history tells your legacy."

Other notable acts to write songs about the new US president include Will.i.am who contributed 'Yes We Can' to the election campaign and Nas, who wrote a track called 'Election Night'.
