Jennifer Lopez has dedicated wig room

Senin, 20 April 2009 comments

Jennifer Lopez has a room just for her wigs.

The singer-and-actress reportedly owns so many hairpieces she has built a 'wiggery' in her New York mansion, which she shares with her husband Marc Anthony and their 13-month-old twins Max and Emme.

A source said: "Jennifer keeps the door locked and hardly ever lets anyone in the room, not even Marc. The shelves on the walls are full of plastic heads holding the best hairpieces money can buy."

Jennifer, 39, is so obsessed with changing her hair she constantly updates her collection and is keen to try out new styles. The source added to National Enquirer magazine:

"Her actual hair is shoulder-length. Her wigs allow her to experiment with different looks and styles without having to have extensions or grown her own locks.

"She has short, long and super-long looks. Her wigs are so elaborate they take on a life of their own."

Star Wars A Musical Journey

comments

A LONG time ago in a galaxy far, far away.........(well, the Anvil Studios in Denham, England in 1977 to be more precise) an Oscar-winning composer picked up his baton to conduct the score for what was considered at the time to be a very over-ambitious space epic.

That composer was John Williams, who, when he was approached by a young George Lucas to compose the soundtrack of Star Wars, probably had no idea just how popular the tale of Luke Skywalker would become around the world.

Despite Lucas's concern it would not be well received, Star Wars: A New Hope, and it's sequels, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi became three of the world's most popular and best-loved films since their release in 1977, 1980 and 1983, respectively.

Even the three prequels, made over two decades after the originals, found their place in the hearts of the original die-hard fans and managed to bring George Lucas's dream to a new generation.

But it's been often discussed, debated and wondered whether its success would have been even half as much without William's melodic, haunting and iconic score.

As a fan bordering on obsessive geek when it comes to anything to do with the Rebel Alliance vs the Empire, my personal opinion is no, it wouldn't have done.

In fact, I can't help but get goosebumps when that opening fanfare begins and always start humming it whenever I hear the 20th Century Fox music.

So the debate over Williams's contribution to the films was, for me at least, put to rest this weekend as 20,000 people packed into London's O2 Arena for the World Premiere of Star Wars: A Musical Journey.

Although it was the London Symphony Orchestra that was conducted by Williams in March 1977, this time it was the turn of the London Philharmonic Orchestra to pick up their instruments.

On the edge of my seat out of sheer excitement, the hair on the back of my neck stood to attention as Belgian conductor Dirk Brosse (who bore an uncanny resemblance to England manager Fabio Capello) picked up his baton.

The 86-piece orchestra wowed the arena as they performed the live score accompanied by a laser show and excerpts from the six films on a cinema screen behind the stage.

And the biggest thrill, certainly for myself, was the narrator, none other than actor Anthony Daniels, who spent his role in the films as droid C3PO in a shiny gold suit.

On this particular night, however, he was suited and booted in his finest dinner jacket
as he told the story of Anakin and Luke Skywalker and the battle between the good Rebellion and the evil Empire.

He received his most rapturous applause of the night when he suddenly launched
into his most famous character halfway through his narration, introducing him as "a masterpiece of engineering, an amazing droid'.

But the biggest cheers that rang around the Docklands venue were saved for the visual introduction of Jedi master Yoda, sexy smuggler Hans Solo (yes, I admit to him being my first ever crush) and his steady sidekick Chewbacca.

It ended with images of Williams conducting the scores from 1977 to 2005 and fittingly, Daniels closing the night with a wish to each and every one of us - 'May the Force be with you, always.'

U2

Get On Your Boots....

The mighty global force that are U2 are back with a new single, and album to follow. Brits opener Get On Your Boots is a powerhouse of a track, and also a very commercial number. Taking the boys back to their Pop days, this is track is a grower. At first it is a mish mash of sounds, but somewhere it all comes together – driving bassline, Bono’s trademark lyrics standout, although lyrically it is not their finest moment – 'You free me from the dark dream; candy floss ice cream'. Hmmm. Also, not sure it required the Happy Mondays-esque 'Yeah Hey Hey’ at the end of the track.
B side 'No Line on the Horizon’ is a worthy track as well; perhaps more conventional U2 and still a strong track.

Hilary Duff

comments

Hilary Duff rows with fans at her boyfriend's hockey games.

The singer-and-actress regularly attends lover Mike Comrie's games for the New York Islanders and isn't afraid to confront "intense fans" who abuse her man.

She said: "I like to sit in the audience, you know I don't sit up in a box or anything, and people started to know that I'm sitting there, and they'll be like 'Mike sucks!' Or they try to rile me up and I'm like, 'Hey, watch it! I'll come up there, you know.'

"But I try to not be that crazy girlfriend."

Hilary - who has been dating Mike, 28, for almost two years - was not a fan of the sport when they first got together but has now learned more about it and considers herself a fan.

The 21-year-old star added to US TV talk show host Rachael Ray: "The first couple of games I went to, I'm like, 'These people are nuts.' They are, like, so into it. And then, I got really into it once I started learning about the game."

It follows the epic Just Blaze produced, UK no.2 single 'Live Your Life’, (and US No.1) featuring Rihanna - which certified silver on this side of the pond, selling more than 200K. The forthcoming video will reunite T.I with Justin Timberlake, shot entirely on location in Los Angeles.

Arguably his most potent and important LP to date, PAPER TRAIL sees the 'King of the South’ collaborate with a stellar guest list including Swizz Beatz, Usher, Ludacris, John Legend and the aforementioned Justin Timberlake. The album’s title is a direct reference to T.I.’s return to writing down his lyrics, a practice he has not engaged in since his debut record, 'IM SERIOUS’ which came out in 2001.

Rihanna Reportedly The Victim In Chris Brown Case

Rabu, 11 Februari 2009 comments

The allegations against singer Chris Brown took an even more serious turn Monday (February 9) when TMZ reported that the victim in the case was the 19-year-old singer's longtime girlfriend, Rihanna. The Los Angeles Times and Us Weekly have also reported that Rihanna was the victim.

Additionally, though police are not revealing the victim's name because the alleged incident involves domestic violence, TMZ claimed the crime report was made in Rihanna's birth name, Robyn Fenty.

Although TMZ initially reported that a deadly weapon was involved in the case, it later retracted that claim.

Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform at the Grammys separately on Sunday night, with each nominated for a handful of awards. Word emerged just before the broadcast that neither would be attending, along with news that Brown had turned himself in to Los Angeles police. Detectives investigating the felony battery charges booked the singer for criminal threats in the case and released him on $50,000 bail, saying that additional charges may be filed. A spokesperson for the LAPD said Monday morning that the department had no further information beyond the statements posted on the department's Web site and would not confirm the TMZ reports or the alleged ID'ing of Rihanna as the victim.

Spokespeople for Rihanna and Brown could not be reached for comment at press time.

According to the LAPD, the 19-year-old R&B singer and an unidentified woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Sunday when they began arguing. Police said the "woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker." Officers said Brown was not present at the scene when they arrived.

In light of the alleged domestic-violence incident, a 2007 interview Brown did with Giant magazine, in which he said his mother had been physically abused by his stepfather, has resurfaced. "He used to hit my mom," the singer told the magazine. "He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day.' ... I hate him to this day."

Brown also told the magazine he studied martial arts to defend himself and that after a fight with classmates in which he used his skills, he begged his mother not to go to the police. "Don't go to no cops pressing no charges," he reportedly told her. "Like, we don't do that in the 'hood."

Emil Wilbekin, editor in chief of Giant magazine, told MTV News on Monday that he was saddened by the news. "In the 2007 article, he talks about his abusive stepfather beating on his mother, and unfortunately, that type of behavior often becomes a pattern within families," Wilbekin said. "It's a little sad, because he is a role model for so many young men and has so many young female fans. It does send a really bad message."

Grammy Winners: Lil Wayne And Coldplay Have A Big Night

comments

Lil Wayne may have come into the Grammys with the most nominations, but the rapper had to settle for a handful of off-camera gramophones and the prime-time Best Rap Album trophy as the duo of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss dominated the night's major categories.

Though Coldplay came in with seven nominations, they also had to settle for a trio of awards. The Grammy-catnip hookup between the former Led Zeppelin singer and the bluegrass icon garnered five trophies, including Album of the Year.

The awards show featured a slew of amazing performances, as well as the noticeable absence of two nominated artists and expected performers, Rihanna and Chris Brown, who were scratched at the last minute following an alleged domestic incident, for which Brown turned himself in during the broadcast.

U2 opened the evening with Bono standing in front of a giant screen and telling the audience, "The future needs a big kiss!," and sing-rapping along to the spare groove of the band's new single "Get on Your Boots," as the Beatle-esque song's lyrics scrolled behind him. And, after a triumphant comeback performance the night before at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy gala, R&B diva Whitney Houston got a standing ovation (and showed some leg) while presenting the Best R&B Album award, which went to a stunned-looking Jennifer Hudson for her self-titled debut album.

The singer got a long hug from Houston and a standing ovation as she hoisted the award above her head. Overcome with emotion, her voice cracking, Hudson - whose Super Bowl performance last week was her first major public appearance since the murders of her mother, brother and nephew in October - thanked God "who has brought me through ... and my family, in heaven and those who are here today."

And, for most of the night, that was as emotional as it got during acceptance speeches. Unlike, say, the Oscars or Golden Globes, at the Grammys, the drama was not in the teary shout-outs to those who got the artists to the big stage; it was in the many performances that took up most of the evening's screen time, as well as the breaking news from the stage that Blink-182 were re-forming and that Green Day are calling their eagerly anticipated new album 21st Century Breakdown.

Among the highlights: Justin Timberlake took the stage with his Memphis hero, soul great the Reverend Al Green, collaborating on "Let's Stay Together" as Boyz II Men happily sang backup and Keith Urban added a tasty guitar solo.

Coldplay's Chris Martin crooned "Lost" at a piano by himself but was soon joined by his frequent collaborator and couples pal, Jay-Z. The MC laid down his verse from the remix, which, ironically, features the line "N---a sue you, you settle," delivered at the same event where the band was almost served with legal papers in Joe Satriani's copyright-infringement suit. Not content to rock softly, the entire band - dressed in candy-colored Sgt. Peppers-style jackets and pants - cranked it up for "Viva la Vida," the very uplifting anthem that Satriani brought the suit over.

Coldplay snagged the Song of the Year award for "Viva," with drummer Will Champion apologizing to Sir Paul McCartney "for blatantly recycling the Sgt. Pepper outfits." The guys didn't sit down for long, as they also snagged the Best Rock Album Grammy, beating out the Kings of Leon, Kid Rock, Metallica and the Raconteurs. The heavy competition inspired Martin to quip, "We're not, of course, the heaviest of rock bands, as you may have noticed. We're more of a sort-of limestone kind of rock: a little softer, but just as charming."

They were not so lucky in the coveted Record of the Year category, where "Viva" lost out to Plant and Krauss' "Please Read the Letter," also blowing M.I.A.'s hopes for taking home her first Grammy for "Paper Planes." With a pair of wins under their belts before the cameras started rolling, Plant and Krauss had already gotten their evening off to a good start by also beating out Madonna, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Jordin Sparks in the Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals category for their song "Rich Woman."

Lil Wayne, joined by New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint on boogie-woogie piano and Robin Thicke lending his sugary vocals, paid tribute to his hometown with the somber "Tie My Hands," as images of Hurricane Katrina unspooled on the screens above the stage. The raucous performance ended with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and trumpet player Terence Blanchard playing a horn-blasted musical tribute to the Crescent City's jazz heritage, as Wayne scatted "feet don't fail me now, feet don't fail me now."

Waiting in the wings following his performance, Wayne, his jeans sagging, ran up on the stage to accept the Best Rap Album Grammy and kicked his heels together as he was joined by his daughter, members of his family and crew. "Thank God, thank New Orleans, thank these people you see right here, and thank you!" the clearly excited MC said, collecting his fourth Grammy of the night.

Carrie Underwood brought some serious attitude to "Last Name," wailing like an R&B diva as her band kicked in a couple of smoking solos and she worked the stage in a dangerously short gold-accented micro dress. Meanwhile, Kid Rock brought his country flair during a medley that included the ripped-from-the-headlines gritty gospel rocker "Amen" - accompanied by images of Chinese, American and Pakistani flags and one of Rock's mugshots - his massive hit "All Summer Long" and "Rock N Roll Jesus."

Stevie Wonder got in on some of T-Pain's vocal-blurring action, singing through a vocoder as he joined the Jonas Brothers for a funkafied run through their hit "Burning Up," which segued into his classic "Superstition," with guitar-slinging brothers Kevin and Nick flanking Wonder as he brought the tune home.

The brothers had to settle for good seats and working with a legend, though, as British soul singer Adele upset them in the Best New Artist category, after already winning Best Female Pop Vocal Performance earlier in the night. The soulful crooner was back a short time later to perform her signature tune "Chasing Pavements," doubling up with fellow Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland for a big finish.

Someone out there is kicking themselves for not thinking to hook Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift up for a duet before, as the teen divas made some perfect harmony on their duet of Swift's "Fifteen." But it was the slowly re-emerging Hudson who once again stole the show. Two spotlights aimed at her, Hudson strolled slowly onto the stage in a body-hugging black sequined dress, belting out the inspirational "You Pulled Me Through" as a swaying gospel choir emerged to back her up. The singer broke into tears as she ended the song, which drew her second standing ovation of the night as she lingered alone center stage savoring the love and support from her peers.

The unstoppably perky Katy Perry didn't disappoint, either, descending from a giant banana and wearing a fruit-themed fringed miniskirt as she flirted with her white tuxedo-wearing, shimmying backup dancers during "I Kissed a Girl." You could almost feel YouTube accounts exploding as Perry got playfully dragged across the stage by the dancers, who by mid-song had stripped off their shirts to reveal spangly silver bikini tops and then engaged in a six-on-one smooch to end the tune.

Maybe Kanye West had the same stylist, as he took the stage in a silver lamé jacket and black pants to sing "American Boy" with Estelle in the middle of the crowd. And no disrespect to Ringo, but Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl brought some added thunder to Coachella headliner Sir Paul McCartney's rip through "I Saw Her Standing There." McCartney had to stay seated during the Male Pop Vocal Performance presentation a short time later, as John Mayer's "Say" won out over songs by the former Beatle, Kid Rock, Ne-Yo, Jason Mraz and James Taylor.

Wearing black tights, high-tops and a black-and-white polka-dotted maternity bikini under a black body stocking, a nine-months pregnant M.I.A. acted oblivious to the fact that Sunday was her due date as she sang the hook and hung with the boys on "Swagga Like Us." She was surrounded by the tuxedo-wearing Mount Rushmore of rap, as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z and T.I. laid down their verses on Tip's remix of her signature song "Paper Planes" for one of the most memorable and high-power hip-hop performances in Grammy history.

Sporting a shaggy 'do, normally subdued Radiohead singer Thom Yorke showed off some rock-star swagger as he strutted across the stage in a black leather jacket and tight black jeans as he led his band through "15 Step" with thundering syncopated accompaniment from the clearly amped members of the USC Trojan Marching Band. Nominated for six awards, Radiohead had to settle for the pre-telecast Best Alternative Music Album and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition package for In Rainbows.

T.I. and Justin Timberlake hit the stage again later in the show to re-create their collaboration on the King of the South's somber elegy to friends passed, "Dead and Gone." In his final performance before entering prison for gun charges, Tip, dressed all in black, gave a shout-out to the song's inspiration, his murdered friend Philant Johnson, as Timberlake crooned the hook while playing the piano and a battalion of bucket thumping percussionists laid down a funky beat. T.I. ended the riveting performance by intoning, "Adversity builds character, character will take you places money can't, welcome to my road to redemption," as he humbly hung his head.

Pink and ex-husband to reunite

Sabtu, 17 Januari 2009 comments

Pink and her estranged husband Carey Hart are reportedly set to reunite...
The 'Sober' singer - who announced she was separating from her spouse of two years last February - sparked rumours she is back with the professional motocross racer after they were seen jogging together in Los Angeles on Wednesday (14.01.09).

The couple gazed at each other and walked arm-in-arm after their workout, before breaking into a play fight.

They also spent New Years' Eve (31.12.08) together at a party held at Carey's Las Vegas nightclub Wasted Space.

Carey made a public toast to Pink at the bash, with a source revealing: "He escorted her to the stage and toasted her at midnight. Then he wished everyone a happy new year. It was very informal."

Pink, 29, recently admitted she and Carey have struggled to adapt to their new relationship as friends.

She said: "It's up and down. You have strong moments and you have weak moments. But it's not just been devastating - it's been freedom, too."

New Justin Timberlake Track Leaks

comments

While Justin Timberlake recently told MTV News that he's going to be focusing on working with other artists rather than his own material, on Thursday (January 15), a new song of his, apparently titled "Bigger Than the World," leaked online.

The song, which sounds unfinished, features Timberlake singing in a light falsetto reminiscent of Robin Thicke (or perhaps it's Justin sounding like Robin Thicke sounding like Justin) accompanied by a pulsing mid-tempo beat, keyboards and guitar. According to some online reports, the track was produced by Timbaland, and was posted on ThisIs50.com on Thursday. Toward the end, the beat drops out and the song ends with just piano.

When he spoke with MTV News last year, Timberlake said he was focusing on working with other artists, although he declined to reveal who those artists are. "I've been working with different people here or there," he said. "I feel weird. You'll hear it when it comes out. I would love to give you everyone but there's some stuff that might not work out due to business stuff, unfortunately.

"As far as myself, I don't have that," he continued. "I could change [my mind] next week, but I don't have the bug to jump in and start the whole process again, and touring again. I do love it, but it's tiring."

In addition to "Bigger Than the World," Timberlake recently released "Follow My Lead," which features vocals from the first signing to Timberlake's Tennman Records, Esmée Denters.

Milk

Rabu, 14 Januari 2009 comments

"My name is Harvey Milk, and I want to recruit you!"

So begins the triumphant rise and subsequent tragedy of Harvey Milk - the first openly gay official to be elected to public office in 1978. This stirring biopic on Milk's pivotal quest for gay rights, drives home important messages, but resonates less than hoped for.

In 1970, life still has a few surprises left for Harvey Milk (Sean Penn). On the cusp of turning 40, he picks up Scott Smith (James Franco) at a subway station, falls in love, and decides to come out of the closet. The couple set up home and shop in San Francisco's Castro Street, which soon becomes a thriving hotbed for the gay community. Amidst brewing anti-gay persecution, Milk feels compelled to make a stand, and runs for District Supervisor.

Albeit unsuccessful, his impassioned activism opens up a wave of homosexual liberation and openness. Finally, in 1977, Milk's campaign hits a breakthrough, and he ascends to San Francisco City Supervisor. After initial efforts to coordinate with fellow Supervisor Dan White (Josh Brolin) sours, Milk finds himself paying the price for his passionate dedication to gay rights.

Almost as if he's born to play Milk, Penn disappears into the role with empathy and powerful conviction. He infuses Milk's courage and determination with winning charisma and tender vulnerability; always dignified and graceful. Brolin makes White a character to sympathize with, giving him an unexpected human touch, and putting forth a fair portrayal that doesn't turn into a stereotype.

Among the supporting cast of Milk's lovers and supporters, Franco is subtle and low-key, while Diego Luna (as Jack) is flamboyant and erratic, unfortunately over-emphasizing gayness just a tad. Emile Hirsch (as Cleve Jones) though, brings an energetic exuberance that is rather refreshing.

Milk is poignant enough, with an astute mix of recreated newsreel footage thrown in that lends weight and historical significance. Yet the weakest link is the tangible detachment of director Gus Van Sant, who fails to bring life fully to Milk's inspirational spirit. You walk away feeling moved, but not necessarily satisfied.

Red Hot Chili Peppers recording

comments
When Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante said:
"the official news is just that there's no plans to do anything and we're on a hiatus of an indefinite length. There's just absolutely no plans to do anything and, that's it. Yeah, we worked really hard for ten years and, you know, there's other things in life."

Well it seems music is just too hard to resist.

Dance producer Paul Oakenfold has revealed to take40.com that he is currently in the studio working with the LA four-peice on a new track for his latest album.

"I'm working on a track I've done with the Red Hot Chili Peppers (for my album)" he said. "I'm trying to find a sound for the record; I'm looking for dirtier rougher rhythms with strong songs"

Blink-182 reunion rumours

comments

MTV hooked up with Blink-182's Mark Hoppus to find out the truth about rumors that Blink-182 may be reuniting
He said: "None of us know exactly what's going to happen. I do know that we're all very stoked to be talking again, laughing and letting the past remain in the past. But we're also coming together after an extremely acrimonious band breakup, a lot of anger and frustration with one another and four years of not talking. I think that we need to get back to a certain point as friends before we could ever take a stage together again, because that's what we always based everything on.

"If — and this is a big if — Blink-182 were ever to re-form, it would have to be the most amazing, ridiculous, mind-blowing show and tour ever. I feel like, as bitter as our breakup was, we stepped back at the top of our game, and we'd have to come back even stronger and better than before."

'Dark Knight' Producer Talks 'Batman 3' Casting, Status

Senin, 12 Januari 2009 comments

While The Dark Knight amasses a Batcave full of award nominations - and fans of the flick anxiously wait to see if it will get the attention of a fella named Oscar - we here at MTV News continue to look toward the future of the franchise: Batman 3.

So, naturally, when we caught up with Dark Knight producer Chuck Roven on the People's Choice Awards red carpet, we simply had to ask for an update on the film. The good news is, it looks like director Christopher Nolan could be officially on the project (after months of online speculation that he was still on the fence). But no one - not even the producers - know what's in store for the third, ridiculously anticipated film.

"I know that Chris [Nolan] and [writer] David Goyer are talking and thinking," Roven said. "We're hoping, of course, that they find and rest on something that they'll find is worthy to do, but we don't know anything more than you do right now."

Meanwhile, fans are also dying to know what villain - or villains - the Caped Crusader will possibly face off against in the follow-up to 2008's box-office titan and, also, what actors will be playing the parts. Again, the Internet has been ablaze with rumors regarding possible rogues and casting - some good, some bad and some downright laughable - so we checked to see if Roven had any ideas.

"All I can say - because I really don't know more than you do - is that I see no reason why, tonally, Chris would do anything different than he's done in the first two films," the producer said.

As Hollywood buzzes with speculation regarding a possible posthumous Academy Award nomination for Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker, it's nearly impossible to talk The Dark Knight and not bring him up. And while Ledger has managed to become synonymous with the role - and considering that viewers were left with the impression that the Joker may indeed show up in future Batman films - we wondered, considering the tragedy of Ledger's untimely death, if the producers would've done anything differently regarding that character.

"We have to separate the actors from the role," Roven said. "On a personal level, Heath was a friend of mine. We had worked together before The Dark Knight, but I still think that The Dark Knight is its own thing, and we have to separate them. So I guess the answer is, I think we still would've done the same thing."

Eminem comeback song appears online

comments

THE LONG-AWAITED new single by Eminem has been released online in its entirety

Crack A Bottle, taken from the rapper's forthcoming sixth studio album Relapse, was posted onto Aceshowbiz.com yesterday and is scheduled for a full release in the spring
Unfinished versions of the song, featuring contributing vocals from Dr Dre and 50 Cent, were leaked onto the internet in November, much to the 36 year-old star's dismay.

Speaking to Billboard.com, he said: "It wasn't close to finished, and it even has me doing guide vocals for Dre as a suggestion of how he could lay his verses down. It's like someone catches you before you got the Spider Man costume all zipped up!

"Nobody is supposed to see that. We are gonna finish it up, though, and get it out there how it's supposed to be."

Relapse is the Michigan-born rappers's first album in more than four years and is expected this spring via Interscope Records.
